A Town Built Fast, With Roofs Aging Together
Nixa has grown fast. The population passed 22,000, and the housing stock reflects that growth. Most of the homes here were built in the last 20 years, in waves of subdivision construction. The Villages at Wicklow, Bentwater, The Columns, Irish Hills Estates, Waterford Estates, and Oakhurst all went up within a relatively narrow window.
That creates a roofing problem unique to fast-growing towns. When thousands of homes are built within a few years of each other, using the same generation of builder-grade shingles, those roofs all reach the end of their useful life at the same time. We see it on every street in Nixa. Same builder, same shingle, same granule loss on the south slopes, same curling on the ridges.
Even the newer subdivisions are not immune. In October 2025, the Nixa City Council voted down a proposed 250-home subdivision called Moore Estates near Route CC and Cheyenne. The growth pressure is still there, and it means more new roofs that will need attention in 15 or 20 years. But right now, the homes built in the early 2000s are the ones showing up in our inspection queue.

The Villages at Wicklow
One of Nixa's most sought-after subdivisions. Walking trails, community amenities, and homes built in a tight construction window. The architectural shingles here are aging together. If your neighbor just got a new roof, yours is probably due soon too.
Fremont Hills
A golf-course community with larger lots and upscale homes. The homes here have higher-end finishes, but hail does not care about price point. A two-inch hailstone damages a premium architectural shingle the same way it damages a builder-grade one. We inspect Fremont Hills homes after every major storm.
Bentwater
Family-friendly neighborhood with community pools and playgrounds. Production homes built in the mid-2000s. These roofs are 15 to 20 years old now. We see consistent patterns: granule loss, cracked ridge caps, and missing starter strip on rakes.
The Columns and Irish Hills Estates
Both are established Nixa neighborhoods with mature landscaping. That means tree cover, which means shade, which means moss and algae growth on north-facing roof slopes. If you see dark streaks on your roof, that is algae feeding on the limestone filler in the shingles. It shortens the life of the roof and looks bad. We can clean it and treat it, but if the shingles are old enough, replacement makes more sense.
Oakhurst
A newer community of 59 single-family homesites. These roofs are younger, but the builder-grade shingles will still age on the same timeline. If you bought new in Oakhurst, your first roof replacement will come due around the same time as your neighbors'.
Hail and Storm Damage in Nixa
Christian County sits on the eastern edge of Tornado Alley. The National Weather Service office in Springfield reports that Christian County averages a tornado event every two and a half years. Severe thunderstorms have dropped hail up to two inches in diameter in this county. The peak severe weather season runs April through June, with a secondary peak from September through November.
On December 31, 2010, one-inch hail was recorded in Nixa as part of the same storm system that produced an EF1 tornado in the Bruner area of Christian County. That hail event is documented in the NOAA Storm Events Database. If your roof was on your house in 2010, it took that hit. If it was installed after 2010, it has been through every storm since.
